Today

I took leave from my passion, took time to reflect,
On which values to cherish, which hearts to protect.

I learned through great loss, said goodbye through my tears,
Traded truth for illusion, realized all my fears.

A dissonant ghost came to me late each night,
Inviting confusion, on old wounds shined a light.

All sorrow does fade, with time hurt shall heal,
And memories preserve the love that was real.

I danced, and I sang, and I served selflessly,
In return my heart soared, as fruit grew from each tree.

Standing now here alone, with a new task at hand,
To give - to yourself this was always the plan.

Upon a foundation of sweat, pain, and drive,
Success will surround you, making dreams come alive.

This time lead with wisdom, choose love carefully,
Understand where youve been, what youve learned, who
youll be.

Remember with fondness, those you loved yesterday,
Wish them well, give again, fall in love...
